We did it!
Submitted by Gareth on Tue, 05/13/2008 - 07:41.On a blazing hot day, the team completed the race in approx 3 hours (finishing times have not yet being formally published).
The raft held together well, and we managed to overtake about 10 other rafts during the race too.
Lots of people from the team (and their families) who weren't on the raft also came along to support us, which was appreciated - apart from the egg throwers!

Construction started...
Submitted by Gareth on Tue, 04/29/2008 - 12:03.The team spent the day at Gareth's house building the raft (photo's in the gallery) - the main part of the raft, consisting of a wooden frame with drums lashed to it, has been finished.
We now need to finish the raft off, and jobs we need to do include:
Construct and fit a rudder.
Add more "floatage" - a number of plastic containers we've got to supplement the drums.
Build a deck along the centre of the raft.
Add some seats to sit on.
Fix a rope at the front of the raft.
Construct some kind of mast to attach our banner to.
Possiblily treat the timber we've used on the raft.
Fix our race number onto the raft.
Lots of developments
Submitted by Gareth on Wed, 04/16/2008 - 07:24.As we get closer to race day, lots of things are happening:
- Mike Hodder has been liasing with the British Heart Foundation, and has got us some BHF tee-shirts to wear on the day, along with some paper sponsorship forms.
- We've started to raise sponsorship in ernest - the Justgiving page has attracted lots of donations, and we've also got a nice cash sum raised "off line", primarily by Mike Hartles.
- Lichfield Trent Valley 4-tracking project have confirmed the delivered of a quantity of scrap wood for the 18th April.
- Mark Daley has managed to secure a quantity of plastic containers from his health club, which he has kindly offer to deliver to the build site.
